Middle Eastern FMCG buying is documentation-led to a degree that surprises buyers coming from other regions. The commercial conversation and the compliance conversation happen together, because whether a product can be sold in the destination often depends on labelling, registration and certification rather than on price or availability.

That shapes how enquiries are best handled here. The most productive ones name the destination early and ask what documentation is available per line, rather than settling the assortment first and discovering a requirement afterwards.

Destination requirements

Labelling, registration and certification

Requirements in this region are more demanding than in most, and they are set by the destination rather than by the supplier. Arabic labelling requirements commonly apply to consumer goods. Product registration before import is required in several markets. Shelf-life rules are strict, and a number of destinations require a minimum proportion of shelf life to remain on arrival — which can make an otherwise good product commercially unusable if it ships late.

For relevant food categories, halal requirements may apply. We do not represent that any product is halal certified. Where certification exists for a product we will say so and provide what we hold; where it does not, we will say that instead. The same applies to conformity with regional standards frameworks — we make no blanket claim across the catalogue.

  • Halal requirements may apply to relevant food categories — certification is per product, never assumed
  • Standards and conformity frameworks are administered nationally, not uniformly

Regional breakdown

Buyer markets across the region

Gulf states share some standards frameworks but administer import separately, and requirements outside the GCC differ again. Enquiries are accepted from professional buyers across these markets.

  • Gulf states

Well-developed organised retail and substantial re-export activity, particularly through the UAE. Buyers are typically importers or distributors holding the registrations a destination requires, supplying supermarket groups and wholesale.

  • Levant and wider region

Requirements differ from the Gulf and are administered nationally. Enquiries are accepted where routing, documentation and destination requirements can be arranged.

Markets listed are examples of destinations where buyer enquiries are accepted. They do not indicate a local presence, and they are not a coverage guarantee.

Who we serve

Professional buyers in Middle East

Descriptions reflect how each buyer type typically operates in this region.

  • Importers

Usually holding the destination registrations and taking responsibility for clearance.

  • Distributors

Placing imported ranges into organised retail and wholesale channels.

  • Supermarket groups

Central purchasing with defined specification, labelling and shelf-life requirements.

  • Wholesalers

Container and pallet quantities for onward sale into trade.

  • Trading companies

Sourcing for onward movement, where re-export documentation matters as much as import documentation.

  • Retail groups

Multi-format operators buying centrally across categories.

Consolidation

Mixed FMCG shipments

Products from several brands and categories combined into one planned load, so assortment breadth does not require a shipment per supplier.

  • Multiple brands in one shipment
  • Multiple categories in one shipment
  • Mixed pallets and mixed containers
  • Full container loads where volume justifies it
  • Quoted to your destination on an agreed Incoterm

Logistics

Container and pallet export

Supply moves by sea in palletised containers, with pallet-level consignments possible where the assortment is small. Routing to the region is well served from European ports, so the planning effort usually goes into the assortment and its documentation rather than into finding a route.

We coordinate the shipment and prepare export documentation; we do not operate scheduled services and do not guarantee clearance at destination.

  • Mixed containers across brands and categories
  • 20ft, 40ft and 40ft high cube according to the assortment
  • Pallet consignments where the order does not justify a container
  • Freight quoted to a named discharge port on an agreed Incoterm

Shipments may be quoted to ports such as the following, depending on product, routing and destination. These are routing examples, not scheduled services.

Product origin

Where the goods actually come from

K.Distribution is based in France. Product origin varies by SKU and may include France, other European markets, Vietnam, Thailand and other sourcing markets. Company location is not product origin, and we never infer one from the other.

Where origin is confirmed for a product it is recorded against that product. Where it is not confirmed, we say so rather than guess — a wrong origin declaration causes far more difficulty at the border than an honest gap.

How product origin works

Company location ≠ product origin

We ship from France to Middle East. That says nothing about where any individual product was manufactured, and destination duty treatment usually depends on the latter.

Why us

Why buyers supplying Middle East work with K.Distribution

  • Documentation addressed early

What we can evidence per line is confirmed during quotation, not discovered at the port.

  • Straight answers on certification

Where a certificate does not exist for a product, we say so rather than leaving it ambiguous.

  • Consolidated assortment

Brands and categories combined into one planned container.

  • Origin recorded per SKU

Relevant where duty treatment or registration depends on where a product was made.

K.Distribution is an independent wholesaler and exporter. We are not an authorised, official or exclusive distributor of the brands we supply, and we are not affiliated with or endorsed by their owners. All trademarks are the property of their respective owners.

Questions

Supplying Middle East: common questions

Do product labelling requirements vary by destination?
Yes, considerably. Arabic labelling requirements commonly apply to consumer goods in the region, and the detail — what must appear, in what form, and whether an overlay is acceptable — is set by the destination. Tell us the market with your enquiry and we will confirm what the products as supplied actually carry.
Can you provide product documentation before shipment?
We provide the documentation we hold, and we confirm what that is during quotation rather than after the order. What is available depends on the product and its supply chain. If a destination requires something we cannot supply, the useful time to know is before the container is loaded.
Are your food products halal certified?
That is a per-product question and we do not make a blanket claim. Some products carry halal certification and some do not. We do not represent a product as certified unless we hold evidence of it. Ask about the specific lines you need and we will tell you what we can evidence.
How is shelf life handled?
Several markets in the region require a minimum proportion of shelf life to remain when goods arrive, and it is enforced. Because that depends on production date, transit and clearance, it is worth raising with the enquiry — particularly for shorter-life categories, where it can decide whether a line is viable at all.

Product availability, packaging, origin, documentation and destination eligibility can vary by SKU and market. Final requirements are confirmed during quotation and order review.
